Cosmetic surgery attracts some nice people.  Cosmetic surgery also attracts some of the absolute scum of the earth.  It attracts the con-artists, the scammers, the fraudsters, the cheaters, the debtors, the liars, and criminals of all sorts.  Patients have been reported to kill plastic surgeons after procedures they did not like.  Patients have threatened plastic surgeons and their families.  Patients have defrauded millions from plastic surgeons through credit card scams and identity theft.  The most common scam is skipping out on the bill after Botox or fillers.  Another common scam is to threaten to write a defamatory review unless part or all of the money paid for the surgery is returned.

There are lawyers who will deal with these deplorable people.  There are also other groups of people who will deal with these people like the police.  Medical justice is another agency that lends itself to doctors to help against these unsavory elements.

These rotten individuals make the practice of plastic surgery far less palatable to the plastic surgeon.  Many plastic surgeons will retire early just so that they do not have to deal with the threatening emails, threatening phone calls, threats of reporting to this or that agency, threats of reviews, etc.  Plastic surgeons actually started out wanting to help the patients with self-esteem or to restore some sense of self, but as society has turned an offensive leaf plastic surgeons have decided to leave en masse.  It is sad that some must remain working despite hating the profession just to pay the bills, whatever they may be.

Dr. Kenneth Hughes in Los Angeles has not retired yet.  You may contact him for plastic surgery at https://www.hughesplasticsurgery.com/contact-los-angeles-plastic-surgeon/
